  • Game Concept

The game will be an adventure RPG game, featuring a main character controllable by the player who has to accomplish a certain goal. In order to devise a chronological order of events prior to the end of the game, the plot construction or the scenario writing phase will be done beforehand. Although the story will be original, meaning that it will be unconnected with any novels or other games, noteworthy ideas and references from existing cultural Indonesian stories will still be actively considered. Meanwhile, for the game itself, it will adopt the basic elements of ordinary adventure games, such as gathering and using items to progress through the storyline. More interestingly, it will be spiced with some unsettling grains of horror, and perhaps some fragments of baffling puzzles, to keep the game from not going too monotonous.

In terms of the development materials, the background music, character designs, and textures are still to be discussed. Fueling the endeavor to produce original creations of these materials, specifically for this game, will probably sit in the middle of the priority list. If there are textures free for use, detached from copyright stuff, and appropriate for the game without costing anything, using these primitive textures will be our prime alternative.

As to the reason why building this kind of game excites us is that because most teenagers, not limited by nationality scope, seem to favor adventure and thrilling RPG games. It is evident that adventure and horror RPG games are one of the most best-selling genres out there.

  • Scenario

This section discretely discusses the scenario that will be implemented in the game and the big picture of the plot.

As aforementioned, the original story will entail etches of Indonesian myths and folklores. Additionally, to add extra condiments, the storyline will also be influenced by a multitude of references to other Indonesian scriptures so long as they are deemed relevant. With these guidelines to fulfill, an outsourcing for various possible ideas was carried out, and in the end, after a fruitful discussion, it is finally decided that the game will adopt an eerie Indonesian ghost called Banapasti.

Banapasti is an extremely deadly ghost resembling a fireball. This supernatural entity is believed to dwell in the mountains in Java, and hence the story also takes place in a mountain-like scenery. This picturesque area is situated in an unknown remote island where the main character has been stranded after a fatal cruise accident. To forge a way home, the player has to locate and gather various collectibles scattered in the island. However, Banapasti will serve as a menacing threat, preventing the player from returning home easily and safely. Therefore, while diligently collecting loots, the player has to avoid getting captured by this randomly-appearing ghost, which results in a game over if so, either by hiding underwater or running to a sanctuary.

We are still deciding to implement multiple endings and/or adding a side character that may or may not be alive in some endings but, provided that these specials will increase our workload, they may not be available.
